You learn a lot when you start publishing websites...

Besides learning HTML code with programs like Dreamweaver, you learn a lot about the human race. Seriously...you do. I guess you could say I've picked up a little web wisdom.

When I began building the WritingFix website for teachers in 2001, I had no idea the website would become as popular as it did. At WritingFix, we had over 4 million visitors in 2007. With that many people, it probably should come as no surprise that a small percentage of those users might be a little...oh, I want to say this politely...oddly dogmatic or shockingly incompetent.

The world wide web is truly a fascinating place to study personality types and foolish behavior. A few years back, I began saving the e-mails that struck me as the most interesting. I also began documenting my dealings with some web-based companies and services that proved to be anything but competent.

In my spare time, I will begin sharing some of my favorite dealings with the small minority of users and companies whose behavior has made me appreciate the quirkiness of the human race over and over again. I don't do this to be mean-spirited; on the contrary, I do it as an examination of the reality that happens when you put things on the web and lots of people find them.
